Before planning a trip to Barcelona (where it’s usually sunny), it’s beneficial to check the weather. I’ve prepared a page where you can see both current temperatures and forecasts for the next 5 days. This way, you can pack your suitcase accordingly and make your travel plans more efficiently.

What’s the Weather Like in Barcelona?

Barcelona, dominated by a Mediterranean climate, generally has mild weather. Summers are hot and humid, while winters are mild and rainy. Speaking as someone who has experienced it firsthand, it can be quite overwhelming especially in July and August when humidity is high. During these months, temperatures exceed 30 degrees and humidity can reach up to 70%.

Rain is usually seen in spring and autumn months, but precipitation is brief and the sun quickly shows itself afterward. Therefore, it’s good to carry a small umbrella with you. Starting from October, rainfall increases and sudden downpours can occur during this period.

Barcelona’s Weather According to Seasons:

Spring (March-May)

The weather is quite pleasant during spring months. In March, average temperatures range between 13-17 degrees. Towards May, temperatures rise to 20-25 degrees. During this period, you might need to keep an umbrella in your bag for light rain.

Summer (June-August)

Summer is Barcelona’s hottest and most crowded season. From June, temperatures rise above 25 degrees. In July and August, they can rise up to 30-35 degrees. Due to high humidity, the weather can feel oppressive.

Autumn (September-November)

Summer temperatures continue in September but humidity drops. In October and November, temperatures drop to around 15-20 degrees. Rainfall starts to increase during this period but usually doesn’t last long. As I write this on October 26, 2024, it’s been raining non-stop.

Winter (December-February)

During winter months, temperatures generally hover around 10-15 degrees and rarely drop below 5 degrees. Snow is not seen but rainy days may increase. Sunny days are also common, so outdoor activities can still be done comfortably even in winter months.

When Should You Go?

I can say spring and autumn are the ideal times to visit Barcelona. In April-May and September-October, both temperature levels are ideal and tourist density is lower compared to summer months.

In summer months, especially during noon hours, the weather can be quite hot. During these hours, you can visit museums and turn to outdoor activities in the cool evening hours. Summer months are also the most suitable period for those who want to go to the beach.

Activities Based on Weather

Suggestions for Sunny Days

On sunny days, you can go to Barceloneta Beach, walk in Park Güell, or explore the narrow streets of the Gothic Quarter. These activities will be more enjoyable especially in early morning or late afternoon hours.

Suggestions for Rainy Days

During rainy weather, you can visit museums like Sagrada Familia and Casa Batlló, explore indoor markets like La Boqueria, or enjoy Spanish cuisine in the city’s numerous cafes.
